Supercard User's Guide search palette updated
Supercard User's Guide search palette has been updated to work
correctly with Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4). According to the developer:
I just uploaded a new version of the Supercard User's Guide search palette which you can install in your utilities folder so it is accessible from the Utilities menu in SC RTE. If you need to access the SUG while using RTE, open this utility project, type your search term, hit return and it will automatically open the User's Guide for you (you will have to locate the User's guide the first time you use it, but it will remember the location thereafter) and will type in the search term and do the search for you!

Chilton Webb updates iStill to version 1.1
Version 1.1 of Chilton
Webb's iStill
is now available. According to Mr. Webb:
This update speeds up normal image capture by over 5 times faster than in 1.0, and deep image scans are over 30 times faster. It adds a fullscreen mode, and numerous keyboard shortcuts. No bugs were reported for version 1.0.iStill is a powerful image acquisition tool for quickly grabbing still frames from an iSight camera, webcam, or any DV camcorder. It features a number of realtime controls over image capture, keyboard shortcuts, and realtime hardware image sharpening. Additionally, iStill features a proprietary image filter that removes digital camera artifacts without sacrificing image quality, and an image capture technology called Deep Scan that allows you to capture a much higher resolution image than your camera is normally capable of. It is ideal for anyone who needs to capture high quality images from a typically low quality image source.
With iStill, your iSight camera, webcam or DV Camcorder can be used to capture most text, and take high quality still image photos. A fullscreen mode lets you use your iSight and iBook/PowerBook to see into hard-to-reach places, or as a realtime magnifier with image capture.

Next generation of YENCO.COM applications to drop Mac OS 9
support
YENCO.COM intends to drop support for Mac OS 9 in the future,
allowing some limitations that Mac OS 9 imposed to be lifted:
It's official! YENCO.COM today announced that its next generation of applications will only support Mac OS X and has launched a new development news web page and RSS feed to keep users informed of its progress."This is a very exciting time at YENCO.COM. Just last month we finished releasing major updates to our entire product line. The updates have been well received and contain many new features and improvements, including a speed increase of up to 800%. These are our best products to date and if you haven't checked them out yet, you should. Today the excitement continues as we start building the future by casting off numerous limitations that support for Mac OS 9 imposed. The limitations have prevented us from moving in a direction we want to go and from adding some features that users would like to see.", said Mike Yenco of YENCO.COM.
YENCO.COM plans to regularly update the development news section of its site as work continues and, as always, invites users to submit feedback if they have any questions or comments.
YENCO.COM is a Macintosh-only shareware developer. Products include Archive to keep track of files on removable media, Finance to keep track of personal bank accounts, iKeeper to keep track of internet passwords and product registrations, and more!

Text Files to Notes released
Text Files to Notes is a new project that will help you organize
your notes. According to the developer:
I had a bunch of text files which I saved from some posts on the list which I thought would be useful. This project will basically batch convert your text files by reading them in, saving them in the Notes project "export format". Once they are in this format, all you have to do to import them into Notes is to open the Notes project and select "Import Notes from text" from the "Options" popup and select the file you created with this proj. The names of the files will be used as titles for the Notes, and the file extensions will be removed. If you have long file names that the dir xfcn truncates with #xxxxx, the script will also correct that problem. AppleScript can provide these long file names without the truncation, so I used that as my back door to fixing this problem.
Once catch, you must have text files -- rtf will import, but it will import as text, so lots of extraneous crap. Convert rtf files to text beforehand.

Topic for the April 2 SuperChat is ModuloPI
The topic for this Saturday's SuperChat is ModuloPI,
an alternative runtime editor which was recently
updated to version 2.2. The following is a description of the
chat, by Chilton Webb, which provides information about how to access
the chat:
Every Saturday at 10AM CST, SuperCard developers the world over converge in cyberspace to discuss SuperCardian matters of extreme importance, and sometimes we just talk about whatever was discussed in the previous week's emails. This week is one of those "don't miss" chats. As promised in an earlier chat, Stéphane Leys will be the MC for this chat, and will demonstrate the powerful alternate SuperCard editor, ModuloPI. For those new to SuperCard, one of its unique strengths is that you don't have to use the Runtime Editor it ships with. By using an alternate editor, you are introduced to an entirely new way to build software. You will not find an editor with more polish than Stéphane's creation. And this Saturday (tomorrow) he will walk us through it.
Stéphane has asked that you at least download and install MPI. If you have any problems with this, of course, we can help in the chat tomorrow. Here's the link...
What you will need for full enjoyment of the chat:
SuperCard 4.5.
A picture, not too big, not too small for playing with the quads. So if you want to learn all manner of secret and amazing things, discuss how SuperCard can make your life easier, or even get help fixing a bug (in real time!), join the fray!
How To Join ------------------
(It's free) You'll need an AIM compatible chat client, like iChat, Fire, Adium, a host of others, or eh AIM, and you'll want to join the 'SuperCard' group.Depending on your setup, if you have AIM or iChat installed, you can click (or command+click in OS9) on the following link to jump straight to the chat! <aim:GoChat?RoomName=SuperCard>
If you already have an AIM-Compatible client, clicking that link should open it and stick you in the right group. If you have AOL itself, I believe you have to invite yourself to the 'SuperCard' group (and get the capitalization right).

Easily format fields of help projects using FieldReformat
FieldReformat helps reformat fields in SuperCard
4.5 help projects. From the developer:
It applies a "normal" format to the whole field, then different formats to text set off by tags. I use § to surround SuperTalk and ¶ around links to SLG. It puts SuperTalk into blue Courier and SLG links into green. I've written it so that it should be fairly easy for you to put in your own tags and preferred formatting. You can type in a new format and then reformat in a trice, until you find the formats you prefer. Much faster than applying colors or fonts by hand. It has three cards with tagged text to demonstrate. Feel free to use or adapt it.

SuperCard 4.5 now shipping with over 80

to SuperCard 4.1. The new version offers over 80
new features and additions, ranging from graphics to a new
modular help system. In addition, users can expect significantly

"Scores of trick new features, stunning performance increases, a rich, blazing-fast, integrated extensible help system, dozens of new callbacks for XCMD developers, yet stuffed up SuperCard and SuperEdit together still fit on a floppy! You hear the term 'must-have upgrade' tossed around a lot, but this is the real deal ""I think it is no secret that 4.5 was originally scheduled to ship last year, but I think users will find it worth the wait" said Scott Simon, director of product development. "The performance increases and new help system alone would have made a great 4.5, but we ended putting so much into this release we probably should have named it 5.0."
SuperCard is the tool of choice for Mac professionals, educators, and hobbyists alike. Use it to create just about any type of application including games, teaching aids, utilities, personal productivity tools, automation tools, kiosks, and multimedia rich projects. Externals.net Debuts as the "Source for SuperCard
Externals"
Tomas Franzén, responsible for both Lighthead
Software and Tomas'
SuperCard Area, has launched a new site with the purpose of
having a central location for finding externals. According to Mr.
Franzén:
Right now, the website lists about 40 externals. A few of my own, and many of Chilton's. I need help submitting more externals, so if you're interested, keep reading.Externals.net is accompanied by a Help Project that can update itself over the Internet to list new externals. This greatly enhances the power of the help system - now you can "Search All" and find what you need, no matter if it's an entry in the SLG or a one of Chilton's creatures.
A document in SubEthaEdit contains a list of externals, together with descriptions, keywords and names of submitters. It is possible for SuperCard users to join and submit a few, or add some to the list.
To join, download SubEthaEdit, and press Command-Shift-K. Then enter "externals.net" (without the quotes) in the field and press enter. Double-click the document listed and you're in.

Lighthead Software Releases Beta 2 for SQLite 2
Lighthead
Software has released a public beta of SQLite 2. According to
Lighthead Software:
Here's beta 2 of version 2 of the SQLite external:
http://tom.lightheadsw.com/supercard/externals/beta/sqlite.zipWhat's new:
Uses SQLite 2.8.16
Row size limit has been raised to 16 MB
Commands for transaction rollback
Commands for database attachment/detachment
Support for in-memory databases
Lighthead Software has provided a brief description of SQLite:
SQLite is a simple-to-use, lightweight SQL database engine. No configuration or setup is required, and the engine is embedded in the external, so there's no need to install anything. SQLite cannot connect to a remote database on another machine. Instead, databases are contained in files on your hard drive. You specify what database file to use, and since these files are completely portable, you can easily move them around without worries. Because of its simplicity, SQLite is much faster than traditional client/server SQL implementations. As an example, SQLite is often twice as fast as the popular MySQL. More info is available in the project included.
SQLite requires Chilton Webb's Bundle External. (Source: SuperCard List) [download] [3/3]

Solutions Etcetera Releases SuperCard 4.5 Public Beta 12
Solutions Etcetera has
made available public beta 12 of SuperCard 4.5, a few hours after
releasing beta 11. According to Scott Simon, Director of Product
Development of Solutions Etcetera:
In b11 it seems we made a wee fix to the internationalCompare property without doing any testing. Turns out that fix made SuperTalk pretty much case sensitive which would put most projects in serious trouble (including the RTE).I have just posted b12 which should correct this issue. There are no other changes in this release.

Lighthead Software Releases SQLite
Lighthead
Software has released SQLite. According to Lighthead
Software:
The SQLite external is an SC interface to SQLite.
(Source: SuperCard List) [download] [11/17]

a number of new features, most of which are listed here.
According to Solutions Etcetera:
"SuperCard 4.5 has already been in testing since early this year so I don't expect this beta period to be a long one" said Scott Simon, Director of Product Development. "So far our extensive testing has shown remarkable performance and stability, but we do want to have a public beta to get feedback on as wide a variety of hardware and OS configurations as possible"."SuperCard has been around for a long, long time " added Mark Lucas, SuperCard's Lead Engineer. "But it's never had an upgrade to equal this one before. We didn't just add a few bug fixes and cosmetic touchups and slap on a dot-five version number here, this new release adds eye-popping performance increases plus scores of cool new features that take xtalk to places it's never been before! The virtually unanimous consensus in the SuperCard community is that 4.5 is easily the most exciting and compelling upgrade in SuperCard history".

Chilton Webb Releases Two New Externals
Chilton Webb has
released two new externals to the SuperCard community.
The first external is OffsetX:
OffsetX is a slightly more powerful version of the Offset function in SuperCard. It allows for negative offsets (which can search backwards in a string). It has an option for case sensitivity, and it can batch scan text for every offset that matches the string you're searching for.Feed your addiction here:
The second external is Serial 1.0, currently in its tenth beta. Serial allows you to do things that require serial port access and control in Mac OS X. You can download Serial 1.0 b10 here.

Carl Manaster Brings Test-Driven Development to SuperCard
Carl Manaster has released TDD for SuperCard, a project that
explores the use of Test-Driven Development in SuperCard. According
to Mr. Manaster:
Test-Driven Development is a great way to write code. I'm afraid it seems to intimidate people, and it shouldn't; it's really easy. I hope this little project may serve as a nice introduction to the approach. The project has a field into which you type the code. It doesn't format it nicely or indent it (feel free to enhance). When you click the Run Test button or type Enter in the field, it runs the Test method at the top. The Test method should have some Expect calls in it, and if any Expect fails, it tells you about the failure and gives you a red bar (it's green if there aren't any failures).
You can get back to the last time it worked by clicking Back to Green; you can go back one step (but just one; no multiple undo) by clicking Undo Last. You can start fresh by clicking clean slate (but be sure you've copied anything you need first!).
There's a TDD group at groups.yahoo.com/group/testdrivendevelopment where you can get lots more information.
This project is a really trivial implementation and doesn't offer you all the benefits of a full-blown unit testing framework, but I think it's enough to get you started. Have a blast!

Mac OS Rumors Forgets About SuperCard, Later Corrects
Itself
Mac OS Rumors, probably
the most well known Mac rumors site, completely
forgot about SuperCard when asked about the future of HyperCard.
From MOSR:
To the best of our knowledge, Apple has shouted "HYPERCARD IS DEAD!" from every rooftop is(sic) can find, in order to focus developers and students on more up to date options like AppleScript Studio, Runtime Revolution, RealBasic, Xcode, et cetera.
Notice that SuperCard is mysteriously missing from that list. Fortunately, a number of readers wrote in to MOSR to notify them of the oversight. MOSR reader and SuperCard user Craig Koller has his letter printed on the website:
Dude, SuperCard!Convert your HC stacks and you're done...and it's OSX native.
No, I don't have any involvement with the company, but years ago when HC died I got on the SC train.

Chilton Webb Working on ListMaster 4 / iApp Externals
Chilton Webb,
responsible for a large collection of very useful SuperCard
externals, is currently working on a major upgrade to ListMaster, as
well as a few other "iApp" externals. The idea is to be able to
create SuperCard 4 programs which better resemble the interface of
many of Apple's "iApps" (iTunes, iCal, and other components of iLife,
for example). According to Mr. Webb:
ListMaster gives you powerful list management abilities in SuperCard. You can display lists of massive amounts of data, correctly formatted, with columns, and embed icons, text, dates, picts, and all kinds of various and wondrous things. This is an extensive update of ListMaster, but I thought I'd let a version slip into the wild while I'm adding the finishing touches on it, for those who had issues with LM before. I'd like to know if the problems you had are still there, or if I've fixed them.
This version fixes two crashing bugs, and adds... Anti-aliased ICNS icon support, for up to 128x128 icons. File icon support -- you pass it a file path, and it displays that file's icon. iApp support -- This is a one-parameter addition to LM that changes a list to the iApp appearance, with correct field colorization and hiliting. A new way of handling irregular sized lists, so that the bottom cell is clipped instead of shrunk. I have added this for the file icons only, and will add it for the ppats, picts, and icons, soon.
You can find the latest beta version of ListMaster 4 on Mr. Webb's .Mac account. (Source: SuperCard List) [3/5, updated 3/11]

Lighthead Software Introduces MailTunes
Lighthead Software has
released MailTunes, which introduces dynamic email signatures to your
mail program:
With MailTunes, you can have email signatures that changes according to your rules. For example, it can display what music you play in iTunes, or the uptime of your computer. You simply compose a signature in MailTunes which contains magic keywords. When MailTunes updates your signature, those keywords get replaced by the appropriate information. If you want to use information other than iTunes info, you can write your own AppleScripts or shell scripts to fetch this information and return it to MailTunes. The signatures gets appended to your mail messages, just like ordinary mail signatures. The signature updating is done in the background, and can be set up to automatically start when you log in. MailTunes works with Apple Mail, Microsoft Entourage and Bare Bones' Mailsmith.

iEvents 2 Updated to Version 2.0.1
iEvents 2.0.1 fixes a problem with the new software upgrade
feature that was added in the newly released iEvents 2. Note:
Originally, we incorrectly reported that a problem was fixed with the
"software update" feature. It was actually the "software upgrade"
feature that was corrected. YENCO.COM
has sent us some info regarding the new software upgrade feature that
is found in iEvents 2:
The Software Upgrade feature checks to see if the user was previously registered in the last major version. This is usually automatic, but the user can verify their previous registration code in the preferences as well. Once iEvents has determined that the user was registered in the past, when the registration window opens, it checks online for any upgrade offers that the user might be eligible for. If an offer is found, a short text description of the offer is displayed and the "Buy" button opens a special order page with the discounted price instead of the usual order page with the normal shareware price.
However, a problem did actually exist with the software update feature, which was then fixed in iEvents 2.0.2:
It was the software "upgrade" feature that was not working as intended (there was a bug preventing the offer text from displaying and the "Buy" button from bringing the registered iEvents 1 user to the proper order page. That was fixed in iEvents 2.0.1.It turns out there WAS a minor issue in the software update feature as well... when running it under Mac OS X 10.2.3 or later it was supposed to delete the previous version after installing the new one. The iEvents 2.0.1 update revealed that this was not working and 2.0.2 (in addition to some other fixes) corrected this.
Upgrades are typically larger changes to a program and carry a small fee. Updates are typically smaller and free to registered users. For example, the move from iEvents 1.x to 2.0 is considered an upgrade. However, iEvents 2.0.1 is an update, as well as iEvents 2.0.2.

YENCO.COM News
YENCO.COM has issued the
following news release, outlining their recent development efforts in
regard to the new generation of their products:
At the end of 2002, after more than 10 months of development work, YENCO.COM released long-awaited updates to Agenda, Finance, iEvents, iKeeper and a major upgrade to Archive. The releases finally enabled our products to run natively under Mac OS X, yet still support Mac OS 8.6 - 9.2.2. This event represented a major milestone for YENCO.COM.So what has happened in the months since then? We started 2003 like many other people start a new year; looking at where we were, where we want to go, and what needs to be done to get there. What we found in this moment of introspection was that we had arrived in a brand new and exciting place filled with many new and exciting possibilities that we wanted to explore and share with our users. We also found that we had been focusing on destinations for a very long time but not very much on the vehicle to get us there. In short, YENCO.COM is our vehicle, and it needed a tune up.
As we examined YENCO.COM more closely we found complexity, inefficiency, and fragmentation that had been growing over time and was starting to work against our development efforts. We set about designing a simple, productive, and unified system to replace that. To do this we needed a powerful and flexible tool. SuperCard has long been our tool of choice for developing our shareware products and the recent SuperCard 4 release with it's support for Mac OS X, and a myriad of new features made it the obvious tool for this job.
Today, I am very happy to announce that YENCO.COM is fully running on our new system. The transition has been very smooth due to the way in which our new system was developed. As each core task at YENCO.COM was implemented in the new system we started using it. This led to an exponential increase in productivity.
So even early on in our tune up, were were able to start looking again at some of the new and exciting possibilities around us. But how do we determine where we want to go? A huge factor in this decision has always been, and will continue to be, user feedback. We looked at the feedback we had received from our recent releases and found that iEvents needed some attention. We started developing the next version of iEvents.
Just to underscore how much of a factor user feedback is and how much more efficient YENCO.COM has become, Two weeks ago we released the Archive 5.0.2 update. Last week, we released the Finance 4.5.2 update. Both of these updates were the direct result of user feedback. Work on these updates had no impact in our work on YENCO.COM or iEvents. This would have been a very different story just weeks earlier.
I have mentioned how important user feedback is to YENCO.COM, so it should come as no surprise that we carefully looked at this when updating our management system. We also looked at how users contact us. Email can be a very hit-or-miss thing when it comes to feedback. Some users provided more than enough information for us to track down issues, but others might have neglected some basic details that would have been helpful, such as which product the feedback was about or what version of the product they were using.
Today we have updated our website with a new logo and updated products page, but most importantly we have unveiled a new feedback section which is tied in with our new management system here at YENCO.COM. We are not stopping at the website for feedback. Starting with iEvents 2, due out later this month, we will be including a built-in feedback interface into all YENCO.COM products.

Recently Released Adventure Game
Created in SuperCard
Cos Russo has recently released an interactive adventure game
called Alida. Development on the game has occurred throughout the
last five years. From the Alida website:
Alida is a point and click interactive graphical adventure game. The story centres around four young men in the band Alida that attained phenomenal success with their first CD release. Loads of money coupled with wild imagination resulted in construction of "Alida" - the theme park. It's an unusual place - a giant guitar 330 metres long!
But these guys didn't stop there - the guitar can actually be played
(assisted by machinery);
the internal workings of the guitar can be accessed and manipulated
(machine heads, switch, pots etc..)As Alida was nearing completion things got complicated, their popularity was waning and money stopped coming in. Distrust set in. Each of the band members claimed different areas of Alida for themselves where they devised weird and elaborate systems to protect their wealth. They retracted from each other finally leaving Alida uninhabited.
Fifteen years later one of the guys is missing on Alida...
More information about Alida, including some pictures, can be found here. [order] [3/8]

Various SuperCard Tutorials and Demos
Now Available
Andy Baird has
posted a
few SuperCard tutorials and demos that he has created over the
years. From his post on the SuperCard List:
I've begun putting some of the various tutorials and demos I've created over the years online at <http://www.andybaird.com/software>. These are mostly small projects intended to illustrate a particular technique or aspect of working with SuperCard.Right now there are three projects dealing with polygons (including a line-graph maker), the sysicon browser I created a couple of months ago when we were talking about that topic, and a raffle utility I built for my Mac users' group.
It's pretty simple stuff in the main, but may be helpful if you're not familiar with the particular techniques explained. Help yourselves! I'll be adding more as time permits...

Solutions Etcetera Releases Update to
SuperEdit 4
Solutions Etcetera has
updated SuperEdit to version 4.1. SuperEdit is an alternative editing
environment that ships with the Developer Edition of SuperCard 4.
According to Solutions Etcetera:
"We're delighted to announce that with SuperEdit 4.1, full card and background editing have now been implemented making the SuperCard/SuperEdit combination the most powerful editing solution available in card based authoring environments." said Scott Simon, director of product development for Solutions Etcetera. "SuperEdit provides a fast and effective environment for editing projects without script execution. This means projects with idle handlers or other scripts that may get in the way of editing at runtime are a snap to work with. It also means that making major changes to projects such as copying complete menu sets or windows from one project to another is as simple as copy and paste. SuperEdit's "Run" command instantly launches your project into the SuperCard runtime for testing of script based functionality, and closing your project returns you to SuperEdit just as fast."

Chilton Webb Posts Previews of
Externals
Chilton Webb, known for his WebbToys line of SuperCard projects and
externals, has released previews for a few externals that are in
demand:
There are a few externals people have asked for that are already done, or done in a limited capacity at this time. So while these may not contain all of the functionality they once did (or will have in the 'official' release next week), I thought I'd post them anyway for those who really need 'em now. Please send all feature requests, bug reports, etc., to me off-list.
The files that were posted include:
--------AskColor -- uses the MacOS color picker to obtain a color, and returns the info in RGB format.
--------
HTML
-- Actually includes a bunch of externals:
AliasToPath -- finds the file associated with alias data you pass it.
PathToAlias -- generates alias data for any file. (those two are great for tracking the location of a file regardless of whether it's been moved or not).
HTML -- strips html from a chunk of data. Wicked fast. This version only supports 'raw' data stripping, which will leave javascript laying around inside if there's any.
HTTP -- downloads a file into memory. Uses OpenTransport in OS9/X, and is considerably slower than the sockets version, which is still in testing. But it will work, and at an entirely acceptable speed ;-)
CharHexDecOct -- translates data from one format into all of the others.
SmoothWdResize -- performs a 'smooth' resize of the window as seen in Cocoa apps. Only works on the right and bottom edges of the window in this version.
OpenGLTest -- Just a demo of things to come ;-)
Mr. Webb has also posted a simple calculator that he wrote in SuperCard 4. The calculator supports text to speech.
These externals, along with the Calculator program, can be found on Chilton Webb's iDisk. [iDisk] [11/8]
Technical Editor of MacUser UK Looking
for Example SuperCard 4 Projects
Keith Martin, technical editor of MacUser
UK, is looking for example SuperCard Projects that will be
included on the cover CD for the upcoming issue of the magazine. From
his post on the SuperCard Discussion List:
Okay everyone, I'm making a call for example projects for SC4. Please, if you have anything, polish it up, smoke the bugs out, and send it over!Oh yes, the reason... I'm putting together the next MacUser magazine cover CD, the one for our special Christmas issue. I'm planning to include the SuperCard 4 demo, and as I hate just putting apps on CDs without including helpful extras of all kinds, this is where y'all come in. :-)
Scott [Simon, product manager for Solutions Etcetera,] said something about sorting out the issue of what the SC demo app will and won't run, so we won't worry about that. What I'd like to get is a whole pile of interesting, enlightening and useful example projects showing how to do all sorts of things with SC.
Please include Read Me files if you thing that'd help - probably would in many cases - and put copious comments into the scripts. Try to make the UI fairly simple and/or honestly cool, too, as this stuff will be part of what people will use to judge SC.
I think it is probably best if the examples are generally very simple, one-trick pony kinds of things. Wowing someone with a super-complex thingamajig is cool when you're there to judge how far to push it, but these are meant more as ways to show how to do specific somethings in SC.
I'm not interested in copyright issues beyond wanting to know that MacUser is okay to include the projects on our CD. Your stuff is yours, I just want to include things with the main SC4 demo. (Scott, maybe all this stuff could be up for consideration as bundleable or downloadable examples for your end of things afterwards... that's fine by me and fine by MacUser, how does everyone here feel?)
How does this sound? Good? How about if I tell you I'll need things before the end of next week, preferably by sometime on Wednesday? Go on - you can do it! ;-)
Send stuff straight to me at keith@vortex.co.uk - and don't hold back, I'm on broadband. Well, if you have particularly large items let me know and I'll sort out the MacUser FTP drop-box log-in details.

Generate Web Pages With Mac OS X-style
Navigation With Web Tabs
LittleFish Software has
released Web Tabs, a SuperCard 4 project that can generate web pages
with Mac OS X-style navigation, such as Aqua tabs. From the Web Tabs
website:
Web Tabs works by changing a SuperCard Tab Control to the list of tabs you need for navigation, it then hilites each tab in turn and exports a jpeg of the region of the screen to a jpeg file.
